Hi!! I’m Tina and I’m so glad you’re here!
I’m a self-taught cake decorator with 7 years (and counting) experience. I previously owned and operated a busy retail bakery for 2 years when I decided to close my shop and return to running my business from the comfort of my own home! This was the absolute best decision for me and you can read a little more about why I chose to do so here. I will say, there are definitely things I wish I’d have considered before opening a storefront.
However, I have learned so much over the last several years including how to open and close a storefront, how to operate a smooth running home bakery, as well as numerous tips, tricks, and hacks for making cake decorating something anyone can achieve!
I started this blog about a year ago so I’m very new to blogging.I’m definitely still learning what works and what doesn’t! So please be patient with me! I apologize in advance if you get multiple opt-in emails or weird looking newsletters. I’m still ironing out the kinks!
Here’s what you can expect from me and this blog.
I have a few posts about my experience of having a storefront if you’re curious about that part of my life. The quote next to my picture sums up my feelings on those years very well. 🙂
That’s why I created this blog. To help you decide if you’re ready to take a chance on your dreams, and to help you along the way. Whether you decide to open a storefront or continue (or begin) working from home, I will be here to provide you with helpful tools and advice on how to operate your business.
I recently asked my awesome readers to participate in a survey so that I’d know how to better serve you. I got so much great feedback and I now have several new articles in the works. A few things you’ll be seeing in the near future are: steps to opening and closing a storefront, tried and true recipes, dealing with not so happy customers, common problems you’ll face and how to overcome them, as well as helpful tools to help you get more organized!
You asked, I answered!
I received many requests for more organizational tools, so I set to work on that right away. I have free bakery worksheets now available for download, and am currently working on more tools and printables that will help you become more organized and look more professional.
If you’re in need of suppliers for your bakery needs I also have lists of helpful resources for you to check out that will help you whether you operate from home or a storefront.
Work, work, work!
It’s not all work and no play though! I also have recipes, freebies, and other random thoughts to share with you! I really want us to be friends and have a great time! I love hearing from you and read every comment and email (although it’s not always immediately)!
I hope you’re as excited to begin this journey of friendship as I am!
P.S. In case you’d like to know a little more about me…
I’m a cake decorator as well as a wife and mom!
I live in a tiny, tiny town in the northern corner of Oklahoma, so if you detect a little bit of southern in my writing, you now know why! 🙂 I have an amazing husband, Jeremy, who has been in my life longer than he hasn’t (18+ years!), two sweet babies, Grayson and Kinsey, and a German Shepherd named Olivia! We live in the country at the back of a hay-field bordering on 80 acres of woods and pasture. We do not have any shade over our house, and let me tell you, the struggle is real in the summertime to keep a house cool when you’re trying to bake!
We are always busy with dance, gymnastics, soccer, library reading club, swim lessons, counseling sessions, doing chores, yard work, playing outside, home improvement, riding the go-cart or bikes, coloring with sidewalk chalk, going to school, work and delivering weddings cakes! We also use more than our fair share of batteries and super glue! There’s a saying in our house when ANYTHING gets broken: Don’t worry, Dad can glue it! And he almost always can!
